Les Mémoires
Pixie and Fritz von Pilgrim

Dear Penny, this is Pixie

I talked to Fritz about Hoddy. He has so many fond memories. Fritz met Hoddy for the first time at LACC in 1957. Hoddy was teaching physics at this time. Later on they both worked together at Hughes and visited eachother at least once a week. They became real buddies. On Saturdays Fritz came over to Hoddy´s house and they went out for breakfast at Norms. They talked about so many subjects.

Fritz has many stories about Hoddy because he was his best friend. But now that Fritz is BLIND he cannot write. Should his eyesight improve in the future he will be writing to you all memories about Hoddy.

All the best and love      Pixie and Fritz von Pilgrim

I miss you, Hoddy.  Keep looking for you on the bike at the YMCA, but you aren't there.  I have all the beautiful butterflies you made for me, the dragonfly, and the flashing kitties.  Enjoyed our talks at the Y, while you were biking.  I was always on my way out, but always looking for you before I left.  Caught myself looking for you today, too.  Les loved his kibititzing and discussions with you.

The website was great.  The photos were so good, and enjoyed seeing Hoddy with his family.

Hi dad,  I'm back in Bend, and as I was walking the dog today, I thought about you visiting and walking around our neighborhood here, especially in the summer where you met more of my neighbors in one week, than I ever met in my entire time here.
That's just the kind of guy you were, always friendly, always willing to engage in conversation.  I will miss you walking around our neighborhood gathering friends where ever you go.
Do you remember, we were in Niagara Falls waiting to take the ferry and you actually met someone you knew from your General Electric days in NY.  Harol thought that was so funny, that you could just be talking to a "stranger" and the next thing you know, you do actually know this guy from your past!
That was a fun trip.  Do you remember our Mercedes was overheating as we waited to get back to the United States side from Canada?  Well impatient you, you decided to walk across the boarder and meet us on the other side!  And who could blame you, we had the heater going on a 100 degree day to keep the radiator from overheating, we had one toddler crying...how much fun is that?
So you walk across the boarder and wait.  It was a smart move.
Then you were worried our diesel Mercedes was going to run out of gas, so you're making us fill up at every truck stop, thinking diesel can't be found very often.  We finally did make it back home, whew!
Your life and happy memories intersect with my happiness.
Apryll
I remember working on school science projects with my dad in the garage.  He would try to teach me various scientific principles and I can remember him saying "Apryll, it's not rocket science".  Well today, thanks to my dad's insatiable desire to teach me, I really am a rocket science.  Thanks Dad

I remember Sunday mornings with my dad delivering newpapers.  I stole a newspaper route from my brother Mark, becoming the first newspaper "girl" to work for the Los Angeles Harold Examiner.  I did OK.  OK that is until it came to Sunday.  The Sunday papers were so big and heavy I could not lift my bike once loaded!  From that point on, fy father - who worked hard all week - would get up at o'stupid o'clock in the morning every Sunday to drive me around the neighborhood in his Ford Fairlane 500 station wagon while I threw newspapers out the back to the porches.  Afterwards we'd go have breakfast at Bob's Big Boy - it was the best breakfast in the world !
